When you touched my shoulder
Did you feel the pain oozing through my skin?
I know you can’t see the internal bruises,
The ones that he inflicted deep within.
I know that you can’t hear his harsh words
Can’t possibly know how I feel today,
But if some of this pain could be transferred to you
Would you take some of it away?
I know that you can’t hear
My soft, internal cries,
And I know you can’t see the pain flashing
Somewhere down deep inside,
But if you had your choice,
If you had your say,
Would you, stranger,
Help me today?
Or would you walk on,
Just shake your head,
I beg of you, stranger, if you could
Help me instead!
