You are the shining pie
that caught my eye
and I grabbed you for myself.
You are the red wine
that titillates the palate
I sought to quench my thirst;
We once held each other
against the raging tides
but currents swept us apart;
We were meant for each other
but only for a while
when flames glowed in our hearts;
The fire no longer burns
and the embers have gone cold
beneath the grey ashes;
Now I yearn to break loose
from this prison of passion
that asphyxiates aspiration
So farewell my love
like the comely dove
lets fly from our cosy nest
