A RETURN IN THE MIND

I want to take a walk
through your sundrenched plains
rainsogged valleys where cool streams
flowed to fill our dreams;
I want to run in green fields
where we chased butterflies
dark woods where we hunted hares
with myriad growling mongrels;
l want to walk barefoot
on sparkling dewy grass
tread the winding path
across the ridges and valleys;
I want to hear rustling corn
touched by calm evening breeze
the cuckling chicken bleating sheep
being secured for the night;
I want to be transported
to distant past now gone
when birds sang melodiously
to welcome the coming dusk;
I want to explore
blue mysterious ranges that smoked
the captivating curves and contours
that charmed our innocent hearts;
I want to feel
your tender caress and warmth,
the joy of being home again.
