A broken trinket
it sets the scene
was my great mistake
a broken dream
it set you thinking
and I was lost
our world turns matt
where once was gloss
there was no instant
just a decline
until you left me
no longer mine
my clumsy hand
had set me free
you loved that trinket
it broke easily
a gift, you warned me
from nan, now above
and you loved her dearly
it absorbed your love
but I grew careless
taking you for granted
I wish that I'd put it
in a box, ledge slanted
it seems so silly
to blame this end
on a tiny object
but these things do tend
to send a jolt
of reality
freedom to think clearly
about you and me
Our love a great ship
tiny error sinks it
Our love more fragile
than a tiny trinket
