oops
|
I awoke inside a cage
I awoke at the age
Of unstrained conformity
And premeditated rage
Immense grief was born in me
Was borne by uniformity
By abuse of your brain stem
And the crowd's enormity
I stood up to shake them
Please, somehow awake them
But at my touch they turn and say
"You made a mistake man
All things are the other way
And what you do you do today
Cause someone whispered it in the past
And now you must obey"
And as I turned around aghast
Looking at myself at last
Among my clothes so grey
I saw no contrast

I really like this poem. You want to be a indiviual, not part of a culture where there is people telling you what is good and bad, wrong or right. But its hard since every aspect of our lives, every thought pattern has been ingrained in us since being conceived. We humanize our animals and domesticate our children |
