POINT OF CONFUSION

I've reached the point of confusion
When mind bursts from understanding
With the shallow waters of mine
It's depth can't be fathom
Slowly breaking my beliefs
Consuming away the flesh
Of what's always been my comfort
Angels in Demons' clothing
Or Demons in Angels' wings?
Waking me up from my reverie
With a douse of cold wisdom
That burns the innards of the body
Blisters in my soul
A deep crevasse in my heart
Since when Hell became the Heaven
And the Heaven became Hell?
And Wisdom is not a gift
And Understanding is a torture?
Have I reached the point of confusion?
Or the point of Understanding?
.....Its depth can't be fathom

dear angelabella,
This is a deep poem about a hard struggle with whatever we might presume to be reality -- and that changes in a minute sometimes. I feel -- often -- as you do. There is great pathos in the verse.
I can't say I totally understand its secrets, but the sound and the way of the words lead me to the deepest questions we can ask. Life is hard. Thank God we have poems to write -- and thereby express our haunting and confusing feelings. --------------------flinthunter |
