Mr...

I once knew this man
I found him so profound
yet not hard to understand
The things that left his lips
Had me thinkin’ twice
second guessing myself
but down with him for life
It was what we call the simple things
The songs he would sing
How when he spoke to me
His words held no sting
In my eyes he was a king
The table we shared held many things that he would bring
because it wasn’t about him, it was about me
But couldn’t he see?
We are one
Two halves of one person
When I found him
My peace of mind doubled
I wasn’t as troubled
He was my paradise, my perfection
His very essence was my protection
A love I’d never known
Someone to call home
What would I do without this man who practically was my sun
He sustained my life
His brown skin on mine makes me shiver every time
His lips on mine reminded me of the beginning
When I doubted his motives
And his excuses were many
But he grew on me
And if he left, he’d be missed
It just too bad that he doesn’t exist
