“This time alone with you is precious, maid.
Could I but keep the moments sweet with you
from fleeting time’s demand that be not stayed.
All I’d give making veritas less true.
Since I lack power bidding time adieu,
love, I must seize the rose buds e’en what may.
Let me then speak of my heart’s pain anew,
of my constant thoughts tearing each spent day
zounds, into splintered pieces only you can stay.
It’s you who holds the key to my heart, maid,
with sweetness seen not often by this life
All my bad yesterdays are softly laid
in a foregeful place, loose yea of strife.
On my stout knee rest thy self , future wife.
Till life ends I will be forever true.
Till soul’s cleft clean then by sharp blade or knife.
But no, and fain, enjoy this rendezvous.
Let me tell you of my love while this sky is blue.
