When Depression Takes Hold

Contributed by 2bpositive on Sunday, 7th August 2011 @ 09:21:15 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Where am I, really needing to know
I am all alone, and feeling so low
the point has past, tears no longer flow
just wanting to run, with nowhere to go

Thinking back, a time when it had all started
unknowingly, destiny had already been charted
my mind so pained, carrying a troubled heart
mistakenly thinking, depression I could outsmart

Being wrong, I will necessarily admit
no more excuses, promising to commit
I acknowledge my fears, this is the truth
coming back to haunt me, sins of my youth

At times although distraught, I will not surrender
placing my faith in G-d, may He be my defender
if pain has reached me, it must be for my own good
G-d's way of correcting, this kindness was understood

So I have come to accept my pain, it's only for the best
my mind is now less troubled, my soul can find some rest
lessons to be learned, worth much, if we will only believe
even in our darkest moments, we have the power to achieve

Our tribulations in life, they will never ever cease to be
part of growing is to open your eyes and finally see
there is light, but out of the darkness it's hard to perceive
everything that happens is for the better, why forever to grieve

Sometimes, writing out your thoughts and feelings is a good way to purge yourself from them.
It is certainly therapeutic.
Good luck

Steve

That poem was absolutely beautiful. Accepting that sadness is a part of life is something that not many people can do, especially when they don't want to feel sad... but there is a beauty in sadness. Sadness is a cold mind numbing allure that leads you into its depths, and swallows you.

But it is important not to get lost inside yourself. Memory may be an aid to sadness sometimes, but it can also be an aid to love and happiness. It all depends on your perspective.

May you always find what you are looking for.
