Candles and Incense

Contributed by Deidra_Carmichael on Thursday, 28th July 2011 @ 07:31:00 PM in AEST
Topic: didactic

This intoxicating aroma is overbearing for one such as I

And yet it should not be so for one socializing in the next room

Can't you see this is all based on falsity and folly

A phase persuading you to feel comfortable with the lies and to escape the truth

As I am the hostess of a Divine party tis my duty to keep all light and holy

While crashers will try to wreck the theme confusing the innocent guests

Ah yes at one point you were one of those guests

And now you have turned to throw a celebration based on candles and incense

I will admit admit this head of mine is dizzy from correcting every fault caused here

These lips have blown out too many wicks spitefully lit by one so mislead

My daughter please do have compassion for the wise and earnest

For you are worth too much to be influenced by this unloving unfaithful order

This idea that you may find satisfaction and confidence from candles and incense

What a heart-wrenching poem. It always amazes me how brave poets can be.... you would think we'd be meek book-wormy things... But you are so far from that you can't even imagine it. I am a parent too... what more can I say -- than how wonderful that you can express so tenderly your deep and difficult feelings. --flinthunter
