You Saved Me

Contributed by brasco on Wednesday, 27th July 2011 @ 12:17:31 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You have no idea how empty and cold life was before you.
Trapped in a relationship spiraling towards decay yet still
attempting to delay the inevitable due to misplaced fear
that I could do no better.
Then you surprised me with your willingness to accept
and love. And have since showed me what life is like above
settling for lower standards just to avoid the hunting past
of being so chronically untouched.
But when we touch… those memories of loneliness fade
and scatter and few things seem to matter but the moment.
And I am dawn into you never wanting to let you go.
And though I might be slow with affection in the
public eye, behind closed doors I struggle futilely to deny
my keen desires for you.
Yet my love extends beyond primal plane to a higher
domain and I’ll gladly place a ring upon your finger
so our wedded bliss can linger on.
For your love has saved me from an alternate life
of sadness and solitude; I’m ever in your debt and
pray our life together has little room for regret.

this is a very well thought-out poem. it expresses feelings that many of us feel at one time or another, and that i have tried to capture in my own writing numerous times. well done, and the best of luck to you.
