Just A Mirage

Contributed by The_Unknown on Saturday, 23rd July 2011 @ 12:14:10 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

Sitting on cracked, dried ground
Somewhere far off the beaten path
An ant crawls by, so I know I'm not alone
I'm surrounded by millions, I'm sure
But a single ant is all I see
My only friend, so gentle, so simple

My heart is breaking
My skin is bleeding
Heavy is my chest, trying to breathe
Trying to stay alive in this desert that I call my life
Strip me to my bones, I'm desperate

I was warned not to venture so far
They said, "It hasn't rained here in a thousand years,"
"Be weary of the visions that you might see," and they wished me luck
They wished me luck

Now I sit here, lost
No food, no water
I think, "I should have listened."
But I'm content here in my misery
A punishment thrown down on me by the Sun
I just wanted to touch it... I just wanted a taste...
But I always knew it tasted like the sand in my dry mouth

A lonely boulder that stands high amidst the desert winds
Surely isn't me, because here I crumble
Let me lay, now
Let this be my end

Superb writing. Sad, yes, but your sadness is brilliantly expressed. Thanks for sharing.

WOW~~!!
Brilliantly beautiful!1 Yes it's sad, but I love the way you wrap yourself in your sadness the way you welcome it within you like an old friend, the way you know it will comfort you like an old stuffed animal from your chidhood or a fuzzy soft special blanket that you dont sleep without!! Your not afraid to let your sadness and intelligence shine in your work!! Keep writing anf sharing with all of us always!!
Peace,
Dana
