Sweet pea
you cling to me
so lovely, and fragrant
your spiny form
will onward roam
til I lose my patience
as winter looms
your beauty, doomed
regresses 'til done time
dithering
and withering
then missed like the sunshine.
A hedgerow
I steady grow
in all kinds of weather
I bear the days
of cold and grey
til we're back together.
I bless the space
your colours grace
as springtime comes early
I lack the spell
your lustre swells
my heart is yours fairly
