The day I learnt to fly

The day I learnt to fly
I flapped and said goodbye
I never wondered why
Newton had a doubt
I ventured out with ease
gliding in the breeze
flapping arms and knees
to try to turn about
just what did I see?
above both you and me
so good now to be free
without the need to shout
I stood upon your roof
a subtle kind of proof
but you remained aloof
I gave a bird a clout
the sun it shone
the breeze it cooled
and on that day
the sky I ruled
I felt moist clouds
upon my face
and flew for miles
in my own space
The day I learnt to fly
I went there, didn't try
no longer feeling sly
I was one on my own
I couldn't help but tease
perching in the trees
I gave myself a squeeze
for I was in my zone
but you I could not see
though I was so free
I needed you with me
but me, you had outgrown
So standing on your roof
it was the final proof
that nothing would remove
that layered sheet of stone
So I went home
took off my wings
and swore never
to wear those things
for they remind me
that success
cannot replace
you in that dress
your smiling face
in memories
impossible
a fantasy
the day you said goodbye
I knew I'd never fly.

You are a remarkable poet I fully enjoyed the natural cleverness and wit of this passage by no means was this write average in it's conveyance, based on simplicity backed by pure genius the message here is the heart of truth without one another what's success?
truly profound work
