Slip it in Jim, waiting in his beamer
at the lights, nothing right
forever ticks on
until light's on green,
then gone
leaving only silence
and an oily smoky haze behind.
Late, very very late
Schultzy won't be happy
turbo, screech, grind.
But Jim is assured
he knows he's number one
Schultzy, outside the gates
silently standing,
badly hiding his nature
irate
looking very conspicuous
he's never late
in a place virtually evacuated
all the units empty
all gone home
just Schultzy, and a dead dog
the fate of the guard?
He would have to be hard
to take on Schultzy in this mood
he doesn't care for resistance
or waiting.
Shark nose beamer stops
engine running
Jim out, no excuses
just angry stare, tinged with relief
no time for grief.
What a slog
Jim too tired to notice the dog
Jim slips it in
lock released
gate open
they advance, in nonchalant silence..
