Running through garbage collection
Finding unique collectible bottle,
Taking home, placing on table.
Popping open cork, white fog floats,
Drifts from it.
Tall man dressed in ancient Arabian garb,
Scared, hiding under table.
Man speaks, is genie from bottle
And he is slave.
He grants three wishes.
Deep thought.
Wish one: one million dollars.
Money comes flying all around, twirling.
Family member poor, needy, needs money.
Man distributes to all.
IRS arrives, takes remainder of wealth.
Wish two: dictator of foreign country, stay in power.
Find self in Iraq, becomes Saddam Hussein.
War, US, allies bomb country.
Wish three: wants to be back at home where it began.
Man mad at genie, accusing him of tricks.
Servant replies, “But Master, there are consequences
For our wishes and decisions!”
