The Flames of Fear

Embers flicker
Fire rises, rises
The streak of terror rushes through your spine
Striking tortures of the damned.
Body, mind freezes to stillness
Edgy, trembling,
Uneasy feeling,
Cannot proceed to move.
Teeth chatter with paralyzing effect
Through the bones.
Unable to make decisions,
Fear, paranoia seep into the mind processes
Take hold of entire being.
Worry fans the flames higher, higher
Consuming all.
Put out the fire,
Douse it with the water of confidence,
The rushing waterfall of self-belief.
Feel the heat reduced to coolness,
To liberty and freedom.
