A single winking falcon’s eye,
Dilation, reflection, refraction,
Not unlike a mother, contraction,
Giving birth to art that lets us fly.
The rhythmic sounds escape,
From the dark metallic case,
Through the fine screen of lace,
On to glossy negative landscape.
Imprint of a single moment of time,
Etched into the collective imagination,
Of our visually-stimulated nation,
This is the human crime.
Motivation we crave,
Following reality’s path,
Floating in a chemical bath,
Ourselves we dare not deprave.
