“E”s and Whizz and trips and such
they cost this rotten lot too much
the powder stash in the clock carriage
had run out to her great disparage
so whilst her child did sleep upstairs
with local lads, her love they shared
until she had enough to pay
providers of her happy days.
The girl aged 26 or more
the boys too young to know the score
for this was home to all nearby
with little else to catch their eye
music blared on friday nights
as they got high, party ignites
then off in droves to catch a rave
failing that, “Septembers” saved
the club of choice for this great rabble
who liked to dibble and to dabble
cash for youth was hard to get
recession left them all in debt
so in her living room they sat
with none of this and none of that
they made a pretty rotten team
lazy money making schemes
then duey climbed through the loft hatch
to see how the terrace attached
and pound signs soon lit up his eyes
as he noticed next door opened wide
no separation in the roof
a plan was hatched, which one to choose?
They went downstairs to get a torch
duey and jonny in the porch
they could not find any such light
with which to shine their darkness bright
then unlike old mother hubbard
candles found within the cupboard
they lit the candles late that night
and climbed the loft, and out of sight
next door beckoned, a lonely lady
with Parkinsons, and money, maybe?
Down her hatch they quietly fell
her fast asleep, they didn''t dwell
in a drawer, salvation found
£30 and jewellery, “sound!”
but what those two did not see clear
was the lady shivering with fear
her eyes opened to see the sight
of shadowy men with candles bright
this really set an eerie scene
too scared to breath, she had to scream
they bolted out, then down the stairs
the loft snapped shut, they didn't care
up the latch and out the door
then off to dubious candy store
to get a fix of crazy stuff
£30 was just enough
next morning. CDI, crime scene
the lady said it was like a dream
the light was low, she did not know
who robbed her bolting out the door
the police disgusted by this theft
the woman, poorly and bereft
a burglary so aggravated
they'd catch their men, or they'd get slated.
Promises made, they left the scene
clueless! nothing for the team
Until driving by the hapless pair
cuffs out ready, rights read there
Duey didn't have a clue
how the dibble easily knew
by chance he looked down to see
the reason came up easily
amongst the stains, gravy and beans
blobs of wax all down his jeans!

Wow---a roller coaster of a poem! I was kind of wishing it would never end, and also kind of stunned when it did. Seems like this could be an epic work in progress to which you may want to add more in the future. Brilliant read! |
