Home becomes so destitute,
when devoid of your presence.
An eerie silence settles,
causing peace to flee.
Alone I dwell.
Without the COMFORT of your touch,
the WARMTH of your smile,
nor the SECURITY of your voice.
All that home should be.
Silence and stillness,
breed haunting memories.
Those lonely years,
before your saving arrival.
Yet, your absence fosters appreciation.
The likes of, with your return, I will express.
As I greet you with open arms and a kiss,
that shall have no rival.

Normally I would tell someone not to capitalize any words in a poem, but in this case, it is entirely appropriate. Nice read! |
