Suicide

Moonlit waves they crash relentless amid the torment of the squall
perforating, pulverising edges on the muddy earth cliff wall
what was land, now teeters and then crashes hard into the frothing sea
inevitable in stages , terraces fall, now no longer can they be
The howling gale it wraps around all obstacles, hammering one and all
he stands alone, odd witness, fighting to remain, observing this great tempest roll
the power he sees before cannot be rivalled by the most salient of his kind
all problems that had him in pieces, gone. Nothing is left to control him or to bind
He shouts out loud against the storm, the moon it disappears behind a cloud
no chance of hearing his last words, profound or otherwise, his tone is proud
he takes his shoes off, sniffs the air, his rain soaked face lights up with clear intent
he runs hard, shouting. Exuberant, wrapped up in emotions for he is hell-bent
a passer-by shouts out loud, “NO...Stop” but even if heard he would choose to ignore them
whatever had him wrapped up in life, problems and such - decided, no longer store them
close to the edge, he slips as the ground under his feet slowly starts to give
potential saviour runs on after him, knowing, but not understanding why he no longer wishes to live
a chance to make a difference is lost as the latest piece of land descends into the sea
the witness sees a smiling, slipping maniac, from what was he trying to be free?
Walking back shocked, towards his home, the passer by spots an awkward muse
for neatly placed before him are the barely worn polished remains- those suicidal shoes
