matter doesn't matter

Matter doesn't matter
time waves goodbye
old man in his bed
waiting to die
several complications
tempered his routine
now he is anemic
in and out of dreams
tender touching relatives
mop and kiss his brow
nobody knows quite when
quietly somehow
gulping at the air
with every desperate breath
eyes soak into sockets
naught pretty about death
now and then a murmur
echo from the past
memories of others
reunited soon at last?
Love like this it hurts
and it leaves them feeling shattered
in those he loved
he'll always live.
No matter,
always matters.

Brilliant words, you play very well on them, a short but beautiful read. x |
