The love of thy mother leaves never for want
As a lone oak that stands in life’s great meadow
Grown from the earth, this mother, life’s font
Stands before her children to her love bestow’d
~*~
What gaze of thy mother’s loving eyes hold
Hers, the dreams spun and made of her flesh
To have, and hold, to imbue with love untold
For on all days, their first breath and thresh
~*~
This oak grants her children shelter and shade
From a precarious life’s unending gale and frost
She is to where we run when all has been mislaid
A cairn to which we all look, when we are lost
~*~
None such as the charity of life she brings to her own
Than to inherit her tireless love which she has sown

'The Lone Oak' is a stunning tribute to your mother. Hope you are doin' okay out in Afghanistan... a sensitive sonnet. Round. Complete. Sweet. Poetry.
