I saw and did nothing, am I less of a man?
You ride metal beasts and hide from the fight!
I shot then moved on, am I less than an animal?
You hate and you bark orders from your high ground!

I stole but I fed, does this make me a thief?
You’ve extorted and punished those beneath you!
I loved but I killed, does this make me a murderer?
You’ve deprived and slaughtered those you know nothing of!

I will fight for what I believe; will I be a soldier?
You will slay and you will ignore the people who need protection!
I will stay and I will nurse, will I be an idol?
You will demand respect and hurt those you see as weak!

I am Seventeen; does this make me a boy?
You get upset and demand your own way when life is hard!
I write poems, does this make me less masculine?
You plan attacks and feel unconfident when you don’t look like God!
