bitter tears

Contributed by whisper-on-the-wind on Saturday, 7th May 2011 @ 03:07:15 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

There was a time my heart was strong and I shouldered defeat with the strength of my youth.
Little patience have I now to fight my way to the truth, or bare the brunt of deceit
Yet I still yearn for that sweet taste of accomplishment and miss the desire to fight.
Fate however, bites deep when it comes, like a snarling wolf of want and lust
It tears away at your humanity and leaves nothing but the bones of an existence
Oh yes there is good to be had of this plight known as life, but not of mine
Not of this carcass destiny left behind in the gutter.
If you speak of love I
shall counter with hate, I think of that emotion as too little too late.
My tears ran dry so long ago that my face bares the look of a dried up river bed,
May I offer in its stead a trail of regret that brought my heart to this sour end?
I once loved oh yes I fell so far, they say my heart left a dent like a falling star,
Sadly time and fate combined saw fit to break this laboured bind and leave me
Lost and forever blinded to another’s hand.
Many times I tried to find a replacement for my side, but nothing ever felt the same again.
So in the end I lost the quivering feeling of want and made do with acceptance,
It just made more sense than pain and the constant shame of regretting all that time wasted.
So be gone now sir and trouble me no more, save one comment of what you may have in store.
Be loving to your future spouse and keep a weather eye on fate, so you may catch your heart before it is too late.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
