Forgotten dreams torn away at the seems, a childish glance of history
She forgives the unforgiving world that chokes her very soul
And yet the sense of hope still flows within her mind
Now twisting with every turn of her pointless negotiation
Why do we give so much, when the others take us up
And out of our lives, just to swirl us around and drop back
To earth confused in a dizzy mess of their making
Why do we not listen to ourselves and stand up for what we believe in
Before the takers do what they do best and leave us scraps to lay in
Only to say it was us that brought it on ourselves and they
Played no part nor caused even the slightest spark of the fire that
Burns us all
If we do not speak for ourselves and walk with those who offer a
False crutch in our already difficult but meaningful lives.
