High in the rafters he sits
Legs dangling, hair long and black
Looking down on all who came
High up there it was his domain
Wooden floors bare and worn
Furniture scant, around the room
An old table, chair missing a leg
Dusty was the room, hadn't seen a broom
Cobwebs, spiders busy making their homes
High in the rafters he sits
Legs dangling, hair long and black
How long he sat,day turned to night
The wind found a place to blow
Tattered curtains moved ever so slow
Day turned to night, but still he sat
Children run and play
Gathering wild flowers in meadows green
High in the rafters he sits
Legs dangling, hair long and black
Day turned to night, but still he sits.
