'Today,' he tells himself,
'I will see a stunning young man
In the mirror,
And I will wear his smile
As I walk down the street.

'Tomorrow,' he vows,
'The world will stand and watch
As a new man rises
From (a hopeless romantic's) ashes:
Suave, self-reliant—
Charming as only
A man who loves himself can be.

'But for now,' he pleads,
'Let the ashes to ashes,
Leave the tears to tears,

'Because I'm not ready to be perfect yet'

(without You.)
