The Storm

The darkness within.....
The day starts off, no different than some,
Children laugh and play in the sun.
The Native knows, his mind is aware,
The Storm approaches, Devil May Care!
The clouds soon gather, the children run,
The lightening strikes like the crack of a gun!
Rainfall starts, Cover The Door!
The ground it hits stays dry no more.
The sun is a speck, the day is a wreck,
The Storm draws 'The Wind' from its unholy deck.
The Wind soon arrives, guided by eyes,
Eyes that see all and wish all to die.
The sky is alight, The Native takes fright,
As his eyes fix upon a most horrific sight.
The Wind grabs a house, inside a baby just born,
And lifts it to heaven just like an acorn.
The Wind stops its grip, the house doth swoon,
Lightening strikes twice as white as the moon.
The house falls fast, a family is doomed,
The Storm only laughs with a thunderous BOOM!
The small children watch from out their panes,
Watch as The Native nears insane.
The Storm still rages, rougher than rough,
The Native shouts "I've had enough!"
He closes his eyes, hopes and prays,
That the storm will retreat and stay away.
The Storm stops it's rage, it seems to obey,
The children come out and continue their play.
The Storm was but thoughts, in his poor mind,
Thoughts that he got from a world most unkind.
The Storm does arrive every damned day,
There is no escape, without death and decay.

Ah, good morning, Natkingcole, wish that it was a mere thought process which made the storm. but alas, and drat, it was the read thing that struck in the last few days.
Liked the poem, but considering how much destruction and death the "real" storm caused I wish you would have given thought about reworking the ending. I understand where you are coming from, but still . . . 300+ people were killed and massive destruction was wrought. |
