I fear your pity and I strive for your pride,
As I pray your arms will open wide.
Do you miss me when I go away?
Do your thoughts turn to me every day?
I pray, do tell-- was she better than me?
Why is it you never speak of me in your dreams?
I remember the others--Twas the spark
That began my quest to win your heart.
So where is your passion, where is that fire?
How am I to believe it is I you desire?
My insecurities are drowning me--
How am I ever to get to sleep?
Do you crave my skin, my scent, my hair,
Or is it all just "playing fair"?
It kills me that a chance to you
Is a future to me--a life, an "I do."
So I ask this fated question of you:
Am I the fairest, or is the past the truth?
