By now I should know better

Contributed by huwbeauty on Sunday, 17th April 2011 @ 08:37:48 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

You were the worst thing that happened to me,
And the best,
You were the curse that shattered me,
Sternest test,
Lest I forget the pain,
I just say your name,
Relive it all again.

Pray my soul I lay to rest,
Shallow grave,
Shroud of distress,
Caressed by the cold,
That attests what I'm told,
Gold shining silence,
Safe from the violence,
Of life and she.

Yet this bold circumstance,
May advance,
One last chance for comfort,
Retort with effort,
Contort with pleasure,
Treasure seeds I've sown,
Must heed what's known,
Sigh and groan,
Bemoan foul thoughts,
Taut doubts I'll shirk,
This is gonna hurt,
Now the bubble's burst,
Worst case scenario,
I'm an ageing Lothario.

"Lest I forget the pain, I just say your name, relive it all again."

I do this quite often with my ex's. I find it is actually a source of strength for me. I want to prove them all wrong, and show them what I am made of, even the ones who aren't still in my life. I am strong, and I replay their criticism in my head to fuel my purpose. It will get me going on the worst of days. :)
