A Journey with Cancer

Contributed by Shandra on Saturday, 9th April 2011 @ 09:23:12 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Gray clouds gather in the sky
The smell of rain is in the air
A ray sun shines through slightly
But the wind doesn't play fair
The sky is dark without a trace of light
Can't see a thing, but I still have might
Lightning flashing, thunder roars
Raindrops so large making puddles on floors
I grab my umbrella, in hopes for shelter
Wind blows it away in this horrible weather
There I stand soak and wet,
Unsure if it's from the rain, my tears or sweat
so I began my journey on foot, no car
I see a clearing, yet it seems so far
No trains, no bus, no planes, just me
Wind blows even harder, knocks me down to a knee
Yet I go on, in hope a brighter day,
Sleepless nights are long, and days dreamed away
And the storms continue, with no where to turn
My shoes are all wet, and my hair needs a perm (or relaxer in my case)
Just then, I remember in spite of it all
I can fall on my knees, and begin to call
Jesus, my Lord, I need you right here today
Right now, my father, in your name I pray
Right then, I begin to see things clearer now
I didn't know when, and I didn't know how
But I knew somehow I would make it through
The rain slowed down, thunder and lightning too
The sun comes out, and my clothes began to dry
The sky is all clear, yet I begin to cry
Because I know no matter what comes my way
Jesus fights my battles, just have faith, believe, and pray

Diagnosed at age 21, April 2002 and again in 2009
9 years and counting, still surviving
