Inamorata ( The Other Woman)

Contributed by DIOGENES on Tuesday, 5th April 2011 @ 02:09:40 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

She waits by the phone
ever alone.
Maybe he'll call, or

he's on his way
over!

Could she be lucky?
No, not a chance!

He's on his way
home.
His family's waiting, and

he'll be with them
for the holiday
dinner.

Long times alone, and
wondering why
he can't be there with her.

So,

She'll, fix a tall drink, and turn on the telly.
Her two best friends these days.

Get the phone! She
knows it's him.
'Hello! It's you...oh.'

'No, I can't. I've made
plans, but
thank you, Sweety. Goodbye.'

Hours to hours, then
days to days,
can never call him, OH, NO!

So,

she keeps fixing drinks, and flipping through channels.
Her two hardest tasks these days.

'He won't give them up.'
Her friends
keep repeating.

'She'll be at his
side,
there always.'

She knows that
he lies, and
surely cheats.

She knows that
he'd never
be true.

So,

she fixes tall drinks, and turns on the telly,
and takes love where she gets it these days.

Sad :( I don't understand this. There are so many good people in the world, and so many ways to meet them. I've never understood why someone would wait around for someone who is unfaithful. Love is not always a good thing.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
