Christ and the Rabble

Contributed by DIOGENES on Monday, 4th April 2011 @ 10:17:09 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

*This piece is NOT written in irreverence. Rather, it is meant to show the gross disrespect that people had for Christ in His own land, and how He taught them to respect God.

ALLON:
Won't you walk with me,Jesus?
Won't you talk with me, Jesus?
Don't waste your prayers on me,
'cause I will take your guarantee, that
I'm goin' to heaven. Watch and see!

CALEB:
Hey there, Christ, I'm in trouble again.
The roof is leaking, and the baby needs shoes.
Got paid this morning, but the grape got it all.
Little Mama will be ready to brawl.

CHLOE:
Come on, Christ, it's your job to be helpful.
I need some wine for my party tonight.
Touch my jugs, and turn this water to wine,
-Mad Dog, Muscatel, fruit of the vine.

TABITHA and GIDEON:
Help us, Christ, we're in need of a guide.
The baby's comin', and we're not man and bride.
So wave your hand, and take 'way all of our sin.
We're gonna promise not to do it again.

RABBLE:
Now, if you do these deeds, we'll all say you are God.
None will speak about your scams and tricks and fraud.
Hold your sermons. You can party with us too.
Then, maybe we can even say a prayer for you.

*************************************************

JESUS CHRIST:

You ask of me..
impossibilities.
I can't change your fate.
It may be too late,
but all you need to try.

You want me to..
walk with all of you.
I can see the truth,
I can see right through
you -all of you.

You want me near when you're in doubt.
You want me near when you're in fear of yourselves.
Why don't you know me when all is going well?
You only know me when you fear the gates of Hell.

How many times have you said,'Thank you, Jesus'?
How many times have you said,'Thank you, God'?
How many times? Let's just count the times.
How many times have you said 'Thanks'?

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
