a comfortable escapade

We sit in silence, you over there
me led back in my favourite chair
the blinds flap fleetingly upon the breeze
you're sat with your lap-top on your knees
and so am I.
For all I know you're talking to another guy?
I don't think so, but I'll never know..
as we roll on toward the horizon of cyberland
no longer hand in hand
but hands clicking and sliding
isn't it grand?
I'm not sure.
The T.V partly redundant,
silence abundant
apart from tapping and the sound of kids outside.
If I had my arms out wide
I don't think you would see it.
better to view it flat than it is to be it.
How did we arrive here?
I'm not sure.
The comfort of communicating with an open hand
where a viewer can see but won't understand.
it's a distraction, I know.
a need to flow.
in a place, another place.
Where the face doesn't matter
whether thinner or fatter,
you can be yourself
and hide your health,
(along with personal traits of concern).
Eyes water and blink,
Screen burn.
Meanwhile, the outside.
The real world.
It is, has and will always be...
the same.
Always the same.
Well maybe not always,
but longer than me,
you...
and facebook.

Nicely done. I sometimes wonder weather I was born out of time. Still, poetry like this reminds me of the real world. Well written. |
