The Truth About Us

Contributed by beautiful_letdowns on Tuesday, 29th March 2011 @ 06:37:44 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I know what it’s like to love and to lose
To be faced with the decision to have to choose
To live for you
Or live for me
Not every story can include a we.

How can something burn so bright
Only to smolder and extinguish that night
To miss your kiss
To miss your hand
It’s all just more than I understand.

I know how to love and to leave
To hear lies and make yourself believe
He really listens
He really cares
Even though he isn’t, he wants to be there.

But if he wanted this as badly as I
I wouldn’t be spending my days barely getting by
He loved me once
But loves me no more
And that is what they say the truth is for.

Very well written and such a fun read. Love is a fickle critter, and you penned a fair bit of a gem about it here. An outstanding poem.
