that sinking feeling

Contributed by poeticjestix on Monday, 28th March 2011 @ 03:46:53 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Ancient and pervading
dark and inky black
the flashing storm . it's mighty foam
against the bow will crack
the thumping power knows no end
the icy blast controls
this turbulence brings fear and awe
the mighty ship, it rolls

biblical darkness
mass it attacks
the surface a danger
will we make it back
the battering exhausts
yet thrills at the time
if this ship stays steady
i'm sure we'll be fine

the mighty ship is steered
into the crashing swirl
it's creaks concern, salt lashes burn
all that stands unfurled.
The captain stands defiant
steadfast upon his cause
the howling gainst the windows
the engine's steady roar

there is no alternate
the fear we may fall
this thin metal bucked
won't last with a hole
as long as there's fury
and smashing of waves
we've still got a chance
though I don't feel that brave

alas there is a failure
engineers regret
water crashes through the bulkhead
our fate is slowly set
howling and a crashing
is replaced by silent squeeze
a fearful fate, I take my place
and get down on my knees
