Gazing from my humble abode
I can see a cloudy sky
Dark coldness nips, settles in
As a bear hibernating for its season of rest.
Blue, clear icicles appear upon the evergreens
Glistening as glass, mirrors broken into pieces
Shining, casting one’s reflection upon them.
Flakes falling, descending, floating
Down upon the cold, adhesive ground.
Their accumulation slowly, steadily grows.
Inches, feet by the hour
The ground is immersed in a blanket of
powdery, white substance.
Upon opening my door
a cold chill pervades my being
My breathe materializes into my visible sight
Footprints, impressions remain
upon the ground from animals.
All is still, my feet crunch down
upon this snow of fun.
Over the drifts, hills, I see a frozen, solid lake.
Children, adults skating, gliding, fancy free upon it.
Oh what great joy, excitement
this cold, blustery day brings!
A season of joy, peace to all.
