Sneakers no longer on feet
sneakers hanging in the street
testament to the great crime
of the wrong place and the wrong time
youngsters they tend to attack
no one cares because they're black
gangs created, lines are drawn
snuffed out with begrudging scorn
this is heaven, this is hell
zip coded within a cell
victims blamed for their defeat
family formed upon the street
neighbourhoods they do define
boundaries to hold in crime
heroes found who aren't quite right
the ostracised they follow might!
Guns and product, money made
some move out but don't escape
he who lives life by the sword
his emblem hanging by a cord
this is heaven this is hell
one stray bullet, who can tell
famous following defeat
sneakers hanging in the street
