mythical demise

Contributed by LadyDama on Thursday, 24th April 2003 @ 08:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

the angel weeps softly
amidst the rain
the faerie does his best
to swallow the pain
the dragon sets aglow
tattered branches of old
the gargoyle feigns a smile
for memories turned cold
the elf just cries
crystal tears of sadness
the unicorn is bewildered
by the lack of gladness
the leprechaun jumps
but there is no joy
the sprite still flies
yet, without her toy
the pegasus just stands
staring at sick clouds
the gnome cannot see
as the darkness abounds

what, pray tell
has happened here?
imagination faded
with one small tear

would you, could you
heal this place?
it takes just one wish
from one smiling face

Returning once again
I see another writing
Glad to hear your words
That often leave me smiling

I step in the door and look around
Taking in the sight
And then I see your poetry
And it makes my world so bright

You write a magical piece
Filled with mythical beasts and creatures
Your work is filled with precious thoughts
And many small, fine features

I was pleased to lay my eyes
Upon this nifty piece
And hope down in my heart
That your work shall never cease.

Thanks for posting, it was a good one :)

I enjoyed your list of fantastic creatures. It reminded me of the healing powers I have in a smile.

I place my smile
on unicorns
to lift, once saddened,
unadorned
inherent beauty
with the green of life:
this sage's duty

If not
I fear your poem
unheeded
leaving the lot to chance
mistreated
would fall; the demise of poetry
along with my remarks
