A View From The Window.

Contributed by cashfan1 on Monday, 7th March 2011 @ 02:49:51 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

See the stretched canvas of a landscape
Clinging to the white washed wall of the mind.
Stain like, the hillside spreading out
Green and grey and silver of the Birch trees
Running liquid blue to a soft Sunday sky.
See too the palette from which these colours leap,
The delicate touch of a brush held by a steady hand.
And there in the background the inky water of a pond,
The elegant poise of a swan, shadow playing with light
Reflecting on the cool horizon,
All stilled and captured by the soft bristles of a brush.
Look out through the bars of a solitary window,
See twilight, like a curtain, drawn across the silent hills.
And look around at the white washed walls of my mind,
At my eyes that rapidly blink, as if to clear the distorted image
Of life lived inside a cell.

Wondering if you mean as in locked up in prison, or locked up by anybody, or even metaphorically, locked inside man-made structure, a blight on the beauty of nature.

I would miss social interaction, safety, and personal joy and satisfaction more than anything. I don't really value them above everything, but they are what make me happy generally.
