I Hold You

What is my soul but the cage for the deepest of my emotions?
The sheer force of which would surely destroy any lesser man.
Yet, because I know I have you, I know I am safe,
For these emotions are yours and always will be.
What is my heart but the vessel in which to carry your smile?
That which beats in harmony with yours, for you are the very essence of my life.
To feel you close to me, to surrender to your touch as a butterfly to the rose
A memory to hold for a lifetime.
What are my eyes but the windows to my soul?
The dark and limpid pools with which I hold true beauty’s form,
To hold this beauty through my once steady gaze,
Is to hold a true love that time cannot erase.
I hold you.
