Life's decline

We were thrust into this crazy place
And thus the start of our decline
We wouldn’t learn until years later
Such are the limits of the mind
But of course everyone goes crazy
At least I’m sure that’s what we are
Becoming whores to wealth and worry
As we gaze upon the stars
We seek to be misguided
To false perceptions we are keen
For when reality evades us
We are happy in our dreams
And we’re happy with our lovers
But in marriage not the same
Why do we hurt so many people?
Why do we put ourselves to shame?
Oh, but we bear the pain so well
And pledge ourselves in fine devotion
So, I guess there’s not all that much to tell
Would we even take the time to listen?
