A Time To Remember.

Topic: dedicatedpoems

I am ashamed to say I cannot recall your face.
The years have blurred and blunted the edges
Of an old memory.
My mother holds a photograph in trembling hands,
Anoints your image with a kiss.
The fading edges, the unfamiliar background,
Come together to condem my indifference.
I stand and admire your lean frame,
The dark hair curled tight to your head, brown eyes bright
And I feel regret rush over me like a tidal wave.
I loathe the years between our last meeting,
The barren desert of lost love, lost meaning.
And the fleeting thoughts I had, a mirage of longing.
Now all I have is an image in an old photograph,
The good times, the bad, coming together
To superimpose your youthful face
On the retina of my my memory.
Life will go on and the years shall smother my regret.
And from now on you will thrive in my mind,
For you are my brother.

This makes me really sad! I had a brother who died when I was fairly young. I know my words could never lessen your pain but I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost a sister a few months back.
She was my oldest sister.
I know what it feels like and I too am so sorry for your loss.
Huggs, blessings,
emy

For you are my brother, whatever water passes under the bridge that is written in stone, life is full of imperfection and we are very human in the way we deal with life, and now you are reaching out to keep a connection I hope this brings you peace,

This is very moving and as usual very well written.
My deepest condolences,

Mat.
