And You Smile!

Topic: InspirationalPoems

And you smile!

For I am no longer in the presence of life but in the
Company of a passing Angel!
Not of this earth to have the strength to smile at death,
As it brings the very essence of life to stain
Lips cherry red!
With one shaky touch,
You wipe to hide your pain from
My eyes.

And you smile!

Smile from the eyes as you muster a tiny wave of
Strength against the tides that pull
You away from this world.
There is struggle, but there are no tears
For my sake.
For the sake of those who watch!
Who are humbled in your presence
As Death holds you in his embrace.

And you Smile!

You are not mine to keep and neither
Will he let me.
But your eyes as they shine in love towards me
Are a gift to be bequeathed,
For as dust is my gift to you in a promise of
Remembrance,
So your inspiration, your courage, your selflessness
And your strength,
Will through my tears
Be my comfort.
My fortitude.
And my hope!

And you smile!

This is beautiful! I literally had tears in my eyes. You have captured a heart wrenching moment and showed a side most can't even imagine. GREAT job!

I was with my Grandfather when he passed away and this brought back so many memories. A beautiful, sensitive write, putting into words what I felt at that moment.

Wow, this one really hit me and made me think.
Such a fantastic flow of emotion pouring out throughout this poem.
That is what you call a talent and an aptitude for writing,
Impressive stuff.

Steve
