THE REVOLUTIONARY SCARECROW

Contributed by Tomboy on Saturday, 26th February 2011 @ 01:05:15 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

Come with me, back into time
Where a king, tyrant, taxes and rules a poor people.
Revolution, rebellion is in the air
Out of the oppression, dismay, a patriot rides, a fiendish-like figure
Which is frightening to all.
Its ghoulish face, grim reaper, terrorizes, tormenting to all.
He rides in the dark moon’s light with a devilish laugh and yell.
The sound sends a chill of fear to mind, body and soul.
Who, what is this devilish creature?
A ghost?
Demon?
Devil”
An apparition from death?
Do my eyes deceive me?
It’s the Scarecrow!
Look! See! He rides triumphantly into the thick mist of the night.
He rides on a black horse which flies like that of streak lightning.
Where does this scarecrow-like creature come from?
Who is this mysterious figure?
Kings, armies cannot stop him.
He steals, smuggles from the rich, the king
And gives to the poor, the undeserving.
The peasants love and revere him.
The armies want to capture, kill him.
He’s a symbol of hope to the downtrodden.
Who is he, this Scarecrow fellow? they all do ask…
Secretly, from all human eyes, known only to a few----
Why, it’s Dr. Syn, the vicar of Dimchurch in England, I presume.
A pastor, reverend by day
And the wanted Scarecrow by night.
No price on his head can ever catch this man-demon.
Ride, ride, fly into the mysterious night air
You Scarecrow, the demon from the deep
Spread your terror to all who represent oppression, dictatorship
Go, you unassuming vicar, pastor, shepherd to all
Your ideas of courage and faith will bring freedom.
Great Scarecrow of the Marshes,
History of freedom salutes you, my fiendish friend.
Laugh! Give us your devilish yell as you fly into the blackness of the night.
Your yell will bring freedom to all.
