Crow.

Contributed by cashfan1 on Monday, 14th February 2011 @ 04:17:00 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Trailing a plume of cloud crow is a silhouette
On the moody winter sky.
Above the icy crust of the lake he circles,
His cry a harsh premonition.
Dipping his wings,
He plunges through the mid air silence.
For a moment he is swallowed
By the dark shadow of the forest,
And then he tilts his wings and rises
Through the hard cold loneliness of his dominion.
There above the lake, between earth and paradise,
He circles again, content with his freedom.
And in the all consuming silence
I Fancy I can hear every feather of his deep dark body
Twitch and rustle and bend in the gathering wind.
At last he hovers above my head,
And he watches me watching him,
My shadow reflected in his stark foreboding stare.
In that moment, on the cold lonely hillside,
My very soul is exposed to his dark scrutiny.

Another wonderful write, they always have a good look at me when I'm up the mountain, And I fancy they know more than they're letting on.

Absolutely perfect! I have always felt a great admiration and affinity for the crows I see flying above our river. From this moment on, however, I shall retain the lines of this poem in my mind and view them in an even deeper way.

Dark Scrutiny..... A crow's eyes are exactly that if you get the chance to look closely.highly intelligent and organised birds you have captured them perfectly against winter's canvas resulting in your conclusion of......My very soul is exposed, Great capture and fascinating reflection

Hi Dennis,

If only they could talk - eh, Dennis? Though I feel
his body language was enough for you to pen
this delightful piece.
