A Vampire

The countenance I've come to know can never be forgotten
The smoothest features and thrill come all from one source
A crooked smile along with gazing eyes that intimidate the bravest of souls
Are what you possess and forever will hold onto though your youth is gone
So what have you to with a simple being as myself
One as yourself should not think so high of a lower creature
Someone so strong and powerful and adored would have thought nothing of my life
And still you defy the laws of society and create a place in your heart for me
Tell me have you any delusions of such an outlandish possibility
A vampire with a lonely maiden is not looked upon with honor in this world
Although I agree to this foolish thing we've fallen into called love

I like the abstract, surreal tone that this poem carries throughout.....nicely written. |
