Big Boss Man

Contributed by Butterat_Zool on Wednesday, 23rd April 2003 @ 10:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Just forget about your dream, my son.
It’s technically been done,
And happiness is not as important
As wealth or getting some.

There’s nothing base or ignoble
In being someone’s grunt.
Besides, you get vacation time.
Isn’t that what you want?

He’ll pay you too. He’ll pay you well,
Some fifty grand a year.
And all you have to do for him
Is file, fax, and fear.

And if you choose to have a smoke
Or hit the links with him,
Then cancer or a stunning stroke
Will find you on a whim.

But that’s okay, I promise you.
Your life’s not worth a damn
When your voice is mute, your brain is mush
And you’re a blind yes-man.

So please do us a favor
And forget about your dream.
Glory and global respect
Are not all that they seem.

You’re better off right where you are
And this I promise you.
For if you left, there’d be no one
To do all I tell them too.

It's not quite like that all the time.

Being a salesman, sales manager, sales director in that order I was able to chose directions, try things, drop things without hurting anyone else.

If you have any talent or ability work is OK

Your poem tells it the way it is...
but..look around the world and
you'll see it's the best there is
