Trees and hedgerows alive.

I stand with a smile, listening,
Cock Robins song, a call to spring,
The deep caw as the Ravens tumble,
I watch their grace in awe, humble,
Jenny Wren peals another piercing rendition,
Blackbird issues a challenge from his commanding position,
Fighting and courting, trees and hedgerows alive,
They're all searching for this years wives,
But please be careful, my little friends,
With grace on the wing, an enemy wends,
So don't be complacent in your plight,
The Sparrowhawks hungry,
From long winter nights.

I took a countryside walk yesterday and saw a couple of Sparrow Hawks circling New life is beginning to show and there is nothing like taking the time to observe, in this you express the warmth and the exuberance of spring round the corner whilst reminding there is always fragility of life and for me the pivotal line is the first.... I Stand and Smile.....at one with Nature.

Beautiful doesn't really do this justice. Your observation skills are well honed and this is full of highly descriptive content. I love nature, as you clearly do. Thanks for making my day. |
